Simon opened his first hair studio 30 years ago and has since grown the business to include a total of six hair salons, two barber shops and two hair academies. Most of these are based around the Milton Keynes area, but two years ago Simon opened a salon, barber’s and hair academy on the other side of the world in Joondalup, Perth.
ZIGZAG Hair Studios was one of the first salons in the UK to introduce technology into their salons 20 years ago.
Simon explains: ‘Before we discovered David Levine and his team, we had a computerised till system in three salons and it was a disaster. The technology was weak, the system was slow and no-one in the salon was computer-literate. Then we began working with David and we’ve never looked back.’
At last, the ZIGZAG team had some great technical support and a system that was easy to use.
Fast forward 20 years and Salon-IQ has remained at the forefront of the latest technology, offering new technology that is internet and cloud based to offer salons new and exciting opportunities.
Simon adds: ‘We started with their computerised till system and have gone on to use every service Salon IQ provides. We now have a computerised appointment book, call centre technology and automated marketing. It works perfectly and has helped us to grow the business.’
The system sends out automatic text and email messages to offer discounts and promotions, encourage lapsed clients back into the salon, remind clients about appointments, and asking clients to take part in client surveys. Every six months, clients receive an automatic message incentivising them to recommend a friend – a great way to bring new clients through the door – and clients even receive special messages on birthdays and special occasions like Mother’s Day.
‘With cloud-based technology we can be anywhere in the world and still keep an eye on our hair salons. From Australian we can access all our salons to check appointments, check staff holiday timings, run staff payroll and commission’ says Simon.
But what happens when the system goes wrong?
Simon says: ‘I have never had a problem with the system. If I need an answer to a question, I’ll get in touch with technical support and they get back really quickly.
The Salon-iQ system is brilliant. I’ve recommended it to other salons and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to anyone who wants a system that works. Salon-iQ can track clients and automatically take action to get them to return more frequently and spend more money. That frees up my time so I can focus on other areas of the business.’
